A Brief Background
Ruby Slippers Chinese Dance Club (RSCDC) was established as an affiliation of RACL in September of 2006 by our first president Lily Fu. It originally had ten members. However, the club has now expanded to thirty members, varying between the ages of ten and sixteen. All members of this club love Chinese dancing, and are willing to put a lot of time and effort into practices, rehearsals, and performances, despite their own busy schedules.
The club's mission is to promote the understanding and appreciation of Chinese cultures by presenting colorful and diverse Chinese Folk Dance in the Triangle area of North Carolina.
Since its creation, RSCDC has achieved great success. It has been entertaining the local area, representing Chinese culture, and performing at various venues including the North Carolina Children's Dance Festival at Meredith College, State International Festival, CAFA Chinese Spring Festival Gala, TACAS Chinese New Year Festival, and many others (see "Performances" for more information). We offer our audiences the opportunity to experience and enjoy the uniqueness and the distinctiveness of Chinese traditions and customs.
We are grateful for our parents for their everlasting support and dedications to this group, especially to Lily's mom, also our club's advisor, Xiaoying Ma. From the very beginning, our parents have put in tremendous efforts to help this club in every aspect: costume design, dance choreography, financial management, club activity arrangements, and many more. We also want to thank all of our supporters and sponsors, especially RACL and CAFA.
